A problem defined is a problem half solved! Swipe left for the before of the master bath in our Back Bay Project.
The design here started as a solution to the problem of a ceiling that was too high for the room. Shocking, I know, but super high ceilings aren’t always a good thing, especially in a small bathroom.
We decided to break the expanse by subdividing the walls into 3 sections (marble, white tile, pink paint).
The schluter (black line that finishes the tile part) also defines the shower height and creates a much better scale for the space.
The marble wainscoting functions as a backsplash behind the sink and also turns into a marble shelf in the shower (which you can see here reflected in the mirror).
