About Hijri Calendar: The Islamic C
The Islamic or Hijri calendar called at-taqwīm al-hijrī ( التقويم الهجري‎ ) in Arabic is a lunar calendar which Muslims use consisting of 12 months in a year of 354 or 355 days. It is also used by Muslims to keep track of events and Islamic holidays.

The Calendar was established by companions of the Prophet of Allah, Muhammad PBUH, and its name and starting point derived from the migration of the Prophet PBUH from Makkah to Medina which is called The Hijra, hence the calendar is called the Hijri calendar. It is important for every Muslim to know and keep track of the Hijri dates.

Some Important Islamic Months and Dates are

1 Muharram: Islamic New Year.
10 Muharram: Day of Ashura
27 Rajab: Isra and Mi'raj
1 Ramadan: First day of the month of Ramadan.
1 Shawwal: Eid ul-Fitr.
9 Dhu al-Hijjah: Day of Arafah.
10 Dhu al-Hijjah: Eid al-Adha.
