About Carmel School Rourkela
Carmel School is a Christian institution established and administered by the Apostolic Carmel Education Society of Odisha in the Roman Catholic Church. The School is under the Religious Jurisdiction of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Rourkela.

The school aims at the education of all children unmindful of caste creed, colour, religion. The school stands for academic excellence, development of skills and character formation, based on the love of God and the service of man as modelled on spiritual Gurus, with a view to training citizens, remarkable for an all-round development and a sincere commitment to God.

Carmel School was one of the first English Medium schools in Rourkela, opened by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel on 2nd July 1957 with 80 students on roll, in classes 1 - 11. In November 1964 the school was affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination. The first batch of ICSE students appeared in November 1965 and ISC in 1999.

The school now prepares students for the ICSE/ISC Examination (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, in collaboration with the Cambridge Syndicate. It is recognized by the Universities throughout INDIA. The medium of instruction is English with Oriya as the Second Language and Hindi as the Third language.

In conformity with the objectives of the school to lay emphasis on moral and spiritual values, a course of moral or religious instruction is an essential part of its curriculum.
